Berkley, MA - (June 1, 2009) – For the second consecutive week, Jake drove the #28 Desouza Motorsports-owned Late Model in competition.  After getting stuck out on the outside on a late-race restart, Jake brought his racecar home in the twelfth finishing position.

Rolling off from the twelfth position, Jake was on the move from the drop of the green flag.  After racing his way into the top ten, though, he began to suffer from an ill-handling racecar.  Jake made good use of an early caution to adjust the car, tightening it up.

“We pitted early and that seemed to help.  The car went from being loose to just about right.  Before that, though, I was just holding on out there.”

Jake soon began to make his way through the field during the green flag run.  His progress, however, was impeded when his car became too tight, making it unable to turn.  At the time that this condition developed, he was running eighth.  In the end, however, Jake became trapped in the outside groove, which resulted in him loosing four positions and settling for a twelfth place finish.

“We weren’t great tonight, to be honest about it.  We had glimmers of hope, but the car was just not on.  Part of it is me, because I need to figure out how to drive a Late Model again.  It is not like the Pro Stock.  A clear example is the fact that you cannot drive the outside like I do in the Pro Stock.  We would have had a top ten, but that outside groove is non-existent in the Late Models and so we will have to deal with twelfth.  We now have some time off to go over things and really go through the car.”

The Late Models will have next week off, so their next event will be June 13, when they will be the top-tier weekly division with the visiting True Value Modified Racing Series coming to town.
